What I think of this book
I read this book thinking that starting making rag dolls would be hard. But I was pleasantly surprised when I made one and it turned out well. I have now made two ragdolls and their wardrobe is ever increasing with ideas from the book. It has also prompted me to design my own things for them and I can't wait for the next book to become available on amazon.

Allie and Her Pal Go to the Sock Hop, Bubba Bear Has Fun in the Sun, Catina Cat at Camp: Level B Book 1 (ABC First Grade Special Education)

This book is the next in the series of decodable test.
This book goes into more extensive vocabulary, including blends, the schwa sound (a and the) and digraphs. Kids need decodable text. The animals are wonderfully drawn, story lines sweet and simple. The animals become friends to children.

Andy Bear: A Polar Bear Grows Up at the Zoo
Published in School & Library Binding by William Morrow (September, 1985)
Authors: Ginny Johnston and Judy Cutchins

One of my favorite books as a child
When I was a little girl I loved to read animal stories. This was a great story about a tiny polar bear, rescued from the father bear, and taken care of by a zoo keeper. It told all about how polar bear cubs are cared for in a zoo setting, through the life of Andy. I have read this book to students many times, they always love looking at the photos of Andy as a baby, and hearing his story.

Anna Bear's First Winter (Great Big Board Books)

wonderful book
This is a really wonderful book that I had from my childhood, that has been passed onto my child! It's a wonderful book about about a family of bears getting ready during the fall for thier winter hibernation, and then waking up in Spring. The pictures are really captivating and very well done, each page looks like it's a painting....very realistic fall and winter scenes. It's a nice story, and the print size is perfect for babies and toddlers. The book is a little smaller than an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of paper, and made of sturdy carboard. My book is 16 years old and the pictures haven't faded or discolored.

Antler, Bear, Canoe: A Northwoods Alphabet
Published in Paperback by Houghton Mifflin Co (26 August, 2002)
Author: Betsy Bowen
Average review score:

A new twist on the ABC's
This is a wonderful book for children of all ages. Each letter of the alphabet is explained using an item, memory or happening from life in the north woods; for example, the letter N stands for Northern Lights. As the book progresses from A to Z so do the seasons of the year- they too progress from winter to spring to summer to fall and back to winter. The illustrations are taken from original woodcuts and are beautiful in their own right. This has always been one of our favorite books to both read and give as gifts.

Imaginitive and Funny - I hope it comes back into print.
This is a wonderful, humorous story about a family that loves Maple Syrup (and make their own each winter) and the son's encounter with a hungry family of bears. I read this to my daughter's first grade class, and they really laughed!

Are You There, Baby Bear
Published in Hardcover by Dutton Books (February, 2003)
Author: Catherine Walters
Average review score:

Another Alfie Charmer
Our family adored the first book about Alfie (When Will It Be Spring?) with Catherine Walters' gorgeous and clever illustrations of the bears' wild mountain world. The same beautiful art is featured in this book, with a similar charming plot focusing on Alfie's young naivete - this time wondering where his new baby brother or sister (still expected) might be. I find this one perhaps one notch less perfect than the first, but it still instantly ranked among our favorites. Little text, but rich enough with content and visual complexity to appeal to a wide range of ages.

The perfect book to help you make your first teddy bear!
This has been around a couple of years nw, but it still is the best book to get you started in making bears. You will find bear making highly addictive. Great instructions and good workable patterns. A top rating book!

At the Petting Zoo With Teddy Bear (Teddy Bear Board Book)

A Young Animal Lover's Delight
Our almost 2 year old daughter fell in love with this book immediately! We took it with us on our vacation and it kept her completely happy during a long car trip and even during late nights in a tent. The illustrations are adorable and young children quickly identify with Teddy's experiences at the petting zoo.

We, as parents, appreciated the excellent use of vocabulary and the introduction of several not so common petting zoo animals (llama, tortoise and deer). The author has also conveyed through Teddy Bear a respect and love for these animals.

This is an excellent book for animal lovers of all ages to share!
